Thanksgiving!!!

It's that time of year that we get together with family for the tradition American's call Thanksgiving. A feast above all feasts.

* 91% of American's eat Turkey on this Holiday.

* Only half cook the stuffing inside the bird.

* More than 40million green been casseroles are served up.

* 20% of cranberries eaten, are eaten on this day.

* The Plymouth pilgrims dined with the Wampanoag Indians for the first Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Although, I feel that the media uses this time for advertising black friday and promoting the shopping season that hits big the day after. We tend to forget that we need to be Thankful for what God has blessed us with not just with family on this 3rd Thursday of November, but remembering to talk with our children at dinner time why we are thankful. Remind them when they go to bed, when they wake up and through out the day. Giving isn't always something recognized with a happy heart. A lot of time people give, in order to receive. Always looking out for a way they can prosper or receive glory from their actions.

I see the way my children are and they didn't have to be taught this, "me me me" attitude. It's in our nature. Our flesh that cries out, "I'm the one who matters!!!" This is one thing I pray that I can teach my children. Teach them to go beyond for someone else even if they don't get just even a simple pat on the back. Ultimately, who is the one that sees and know's our heart? You guessed it! God, Christ, our Savior. This can be hard to do in a world that tells us otherwise. Even knowing this our flesh still sometimes wins.

Thanksgiving should not just be a one time affair each year. It should be a constant reminder everyday to whom we ultimately serve.

"I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount  all of your wonderful deed."

Psalm 9:1

This year and each day I am thankful for my husband, kids, family and friends. I have been blessed with a wonderful Godly husband and blessed by my beautiful children. This year especially though I thank God for giving me a deeper burning desire to study His word. To dig deep into his Grace, His Sovereign Grace. What a powerful and mighty God we serve.

"Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name;  Make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works."

Psalm 105: 1-2
